Solar Plexus

Manipura · Power

Your strength is will — confident, driven and able to turn intention into action.

Your power sits in the gut, in the bright furnace just above the navel. This is where will lives — the engine of drive, confidence and self-belief that turns intention into action. You know who you are and what you want, and you’re not shy about going after it. There’s heat in you: ambition, backbone, a refusal to be pushed around. When you decide something’s yours to do, the world tends to make way.

In depth

When it’s balanced

Balanced at the solar plexus, you’re a force of warm, steady confidence. You set goals and meet them, take responsibility cleanly, and back yourself without trampling anyone. You know your worth, so you don’t need to prove it loudly — you just act. Decisions come easily; you trust your gut and live with the consequences. There’s a healthy self-respect about you that lets you say yes and no honestly. People feel safe following your lead because your strength has no cruelty in it. You channel your fire into purpose, and you light a path others want to walk.

When it’s blocked

When this fire flickers, you doubt yourself at every turn — second-guessing, deferring, shrinking to keep the peace. You let others decide for you, then quietly resent it. Or the flame roars too hot: controlling, domineering, needing to win every exchange, mistaking force for strength. Perfectionism and a gnawing sense of not enough can drive you to overwork for approval that never quite lands. Both extremes spring from the same wound — an uncertain sense of your own worth. Reclaiming small acts of will, and tolerating others’ disapproval, is how the heat steadies.

In everyday life

You’re the one who gets things done — the initiator, the closer, the person who turns a vague idea into a plan with a deadline. In love you’re direct about your needs and drawn to partners who can meet your strength rather than fear it. At work you naturally take charge, thrive on challenge, and grow restless without a goal to chase. You’d rather act and adjust than wait for permission. People rely on your decisiveness, though you sometimes have to remember that not everyone moves at your pace, or wants to be led quite so firmly.

How to tend it

Set goals that are genuinely yours and follow through — completion feeds this centre like fuel. Move and sweat; physical effort and a bit of heat (sunlight, exercise, even spicy food) stoke the fire. Practise decisive small choices to rebuild trust in your own judgement. Notice the difference between confidence and control: real power doesn’t need to dominate. Celebrate your wins out loud rather than rushing past them. And when self-doubt bites, ask what you’d do if you fully backed yourself — then do a smaller version of that today.

You know you’re one when…

  • You feel most alive when you’re pursuing a goal that’s genuinely yours.
  • You trust your gut and would rather act than wait for permission.
  • People naturally look to you to take charge and make the call.
  • You hate feeling powerless or controlled more than almost anything.
  • Your confidence is real, even when you have to dig for it.

You might recognise…

The one who turns a vague idea into a plan with a deadline by lunchtime. The friend who says, “Why not you?” and actually means it.The colleague who steps up when a project is rudderless and steers it home. The person whose self-belief quietly gives everyone else permission to try.
