EIE · The Mentor & SEI · The Mediator Compatibility
This one is asymmetric, which is what makes it hard. SEI (The Mediator)'s leading element lands squarely on EIE (The Mentor)'s vulnerable function, so SEI sees EIE's weak spot constantly and effortlessly — usually without meaning to. Meanwhile EIE's best work bounces off SEI unnoticed. EIE keeps trying to earn SEI's regard; SEI isn't withholding it and often has no idea any of this is happening.

The relation
Socionics names this Supervision. It isn’t a rating of the two people — it falls out of where each type’s elements sit in the other’s Model A, and it would say the same about any EIE/SEI pair.

EIE is Beta, SEI is Alpha. Different quadras want different things from a room, so even where you get on, the ambient values need translating.
Where the pressure lands
EIE’s vulnerable element is Si; SEI’s is Te. Those are the two sore spots — in Socionics almost every hard relation is really a story about one person’s strongest element sitting on the other’s weakest.
A note on gender
This relation is asymmetric. It reads differently depending which side you’re standing on — SEI and EIE are not having the same experience, and that’s the whole point of it.
